Warm Light –- Coal Harbour - Tony Max

“The warm light of late afternoon bathed this Coal Harbour scene as I walked by.

The fall colours of the trees accentuate the warmth of the light.

In the distance, the towers of North Vancouver are on the foothills of the North Shore mountains.

A prominent boat in the foreground emphasizes the nautical aspect of the vista.”

Scenic Vancouver - Tony Max

“I was impressed with the bold yellow and green colours of the grass and trees on this beautiful stroll in the Kitsilano district, near noon.

The soft, angled shadows of the trees raking across the walkway make an appealing pattern.

Near the horizon, the ever-present freighters form a line.

Most people who are familiar with Vancouver mistake this scene for Stanley Park.”

Sailor’s View - Tony Max

“On a fine afternoon on Burrard Inlet, I captured this colourful panorama of downtown Vancouver.

I was inspired by the pattern of shapes and colours of the towers, and the pattern of shapes and colours of the trees in Stanley Park in front of the towers.

The black and red lines of the freighter made an interesting counterpoint, and the randomly located sailboats – implying leisure activity – made a interesting counterpoint to the industrial presence of the freighter.”
